Unless otherwise stated, the IFAB Laws of the Game apply to all matches: Laws of the Game


Soccer played in Saint-Lazare falls under the jurisdiction of Soccer Lac St-Louis. Unless otherwise stated, Soccer LSL competition rules apply: Competition Rules


Match length:


  • U7–U8: two 20-minute halves

  • U9–U10: four 12-minute periods

  • U11–U12: two 30-minute halves

  • U13–U14: two 35-minute halves

  • U15–U16: two 40-minute halves

  • U17+: two 45-minute halves


Typical match flow:


  1. Players and coaches arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled kick-off.

  2. Coaches submit the game sheet to the referee.

  3. The referee checks the field and players. Only the referee has the authority to allow or remove a player and to start or stop the match.

  4. The match is played safely.


Rules specific to U7–U10 (see the LSL document for more details):


  • On a goalkeeper restart (ball in hand), the goalkeeper must throw or roll the ball. They cannot punt it. If they do, play restarts with a dropped ball inside the goal area.

  • Throw-ins are taken with a kick-in or by dribbling in directly (no throw-in by hand).

  • Retreat line (also applies to U11–U12): On a goal kick, the team putting the ball back into play may request that the opposing team drop back behind the retreat line. This line is marked with cones and is located 5 m (10 m in U11–U12) from the halfway line on both sides.
